Refurbishment Research
2010-09-09T09:02:27Z
Have you carried out any refurbishment on your house over the last 5 years? For my Masters thesis, I am looking at how you predict the energy savings that will be made through refurbishment. For this I need a number of case study houses that have undergone refurbishment and I would like to hear from anyone who would be willing to get involved. This will involve a short assessment of your house, recording meter readings, and a short interview/questionnaire. The only pre-requisite to taking part is that I need historical energy data over at least one winter (e.g. Oct - Dec or similar) before the refurbishment was carried out (either in the form of energy bills (from actual readings, not predicted) or meter readings). Please contact me if you are interested on steph.wetherell@gmail.com, and I will let you know more information about what is involved.Wanted: Street/pavement artist

Dear Hilary Have a look at the Green Register for possible contractors. www.greenregister.org.uk/ You may also like to visit some homes in the Green Doors programme in September - see link on right hand menu. www.bristolgreendoors.org Regards Alex MinshullRe: External wall insulation

Footprint Builders in Clifton have done external and internal solid wall insultation jobs locally, including currently a cottage in Thornbury locally as part of Refit West ( www.refitwest.com ). There is also a firm doing some solid wall work in Bath with CSE ( www.cse.org.uk ) who might be able to help too. Two good places to start, plus maybe other homeoweners in next month's Bristol Green Doors weekend who have done similar works and could offer advice? 2010-08-07T11:05:33Z
I need to rerender a north east facing external wall and think that it would make sense to insulate it externally at the same time. I have heard that you can do this quite easily if you are doing the render anyway but that it is not that common in Britain, and most of the builders I have asked have not actually done it themselves. Does anyone have any experience of this, of whether it is worth doing, what products work best, know builders who have experience of the process, etc? As part of my degree I am carrying out a study on attitudes to climate change, looking particularly at the views of people who are taking action on this issue. I am contacting you to ask if you would be interested in completing a short online survey. The project, entitled ‘Understanding public attitudes to climate change problems and solutions’ aims to explore the patterns of attitudes and values which are present in individuals who are taking action on climate change. This project is being supervised by Professor Nick Pidgeon, who is a Professor in School of Psychology and has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the School of Psychology, Cardiff University. As part of the study I have prepared a short questionnaire which assesses general values, beliefs about climate change and what kind of behaviours individuals are currently, or would like to engage in to combat climate change. As I am particularly interested in finding out the views of individuals who are actively involved in climate change related behaviours I am inviting individuals who are members of mailing lists such as you to take part. The survey will be carried out entirely anonymously through this website https://www.surveys.cardiff.ac.uk/climatesurvey , and should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All data will be stored and used anonymously and securely. If you are interested in completing the survey please follow this link https://www.surveys.cardiff.ac.uk/climatesurvey . Also if you can think of anyone else who is actively involved in climate change action and might be willing to complete this survey it would be much appreciated if you could pass on this email for their consideration. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact myself, or my supervisor, using the contact details below. Hi, Some time ago there was a lot of energy put into the Big Café projects, up to 2007. There was much excitement about what could be achieved. Did any actions result from these meetings? The discussions seemed very positive at the time. http://groups.google.co.uk/group/brsn/browse_thread/thread/56326f36f4fdfbb1#Reminder: Saving Species Tickets Still Available
